Where is the best place in Europe to invest in a small property for a vacation rental?

I have always dreamed of owning a small property in Italy or Germany -I’m open to other places in Europe, too-and renting it as a vacation rental. I would then have the pleasure of using it myself once or twice a year and do upkeep, etc. I’m not a rich person-but I do know good investments exist. How do you go about doing this? Where are some beautiful, but untapped areas? Where is a good place to start looking?

I’ve just bought a house in Bulgaria near the coast with an amazing view – it’s own private road and a vineyard and for less than the price of a new car. Bulgaria is a beautiful country and you can still get a bargain propertywise. Also there are many many english speaking Estate agents

German Vacation! When and where?

Going with a buddy. Two single guys from the States. He’s into music (mainly metal and hip hop), castles, partying, and thick/borderline fat girls. I’m into sports, skyscrapers, hiking, military (ours and the worlds), and thick/tone girls. We’re both into history and beer.

I’ve been to Germany twice and not seen a thing. Once for a three hour lay over on the way to Kuwait. The other on a three day lay in bed and not wake up on the way back from Iraq. So Landstuhl is a must.

I’d think we’ll be there for 7-10 days. What other things could we do that would make us both happy with the trip? Are the festivities of Octoberfest worth the crowds?
While I was at Walter Reed, some Airborne soldiers told me Oktoberfest is actually in September. Is that true?

Well guys! Wot can I say ????

Depending in where and when you are thinking of travelling will make a lot of difference …. but if it´s the Beer Festival time then it´s got to be Munich ….

Today, the ‘Oktoberfest’ is the largest festival worldwide attracting a multitude of visitors.
Apart from beer tents the festival offers amusements as diverse as roller coasters, circus appearances, festival parades and live brass bands.
The ceremonial opening happens at noon. The mayor arrives in a festive coach followed by a decorated horse-drawn brewer’s cart. Guests, staff and the numerous brass bands are all wearing traditional costumes (lederhosen and dirndls) for the occasion. At the end of the parade the major taps the first keg of beer and shouts, “o’zapft is!” (The keg is tapped).

It takes good nerves and a solid stomach to survive the festival’s 16 days of intensive partying and drinking.
However, the festival is a huge success: Apart from attracting a multitude of visitors, the festivals brand name ‘Oktoberfest’ has been exported all over the world.

As you can probably tell, I have lived there most of my life and know it very well …. I have also found that if you are thinking of doing this then book early for accommodation and please believe me you will find plenty of company (male and female) with the same interests as you both!!!!

Have fun and enjoy the experience – in the mean time, Happy Christmas!

germany vacation fly drive
What should I do for a weekend in March in Europe? I live in Germany, I would leave here for a few days.

I'm not interested in spending lot of money. I need tips for traveling on a budget and the best place to go for only two nights and three days. I can drive or fly, if the price is right. Places of my friend and I are particularly interested in are Belgium, Poland and Austria, but we're open to anything. We enjoy a vacation that includes culture, shopping, and a decent nightlife (we are in our early 20s and like to party). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go http://www.skyscanner.net and departure of flights on offer. Rome is very nice, I can highly recommend staying at http://www.plusvillages.com/ and great value for money cheap. BTW, Austria a new railway ticket discount. It is similar to Germany Schoene Wochenende-Ticket (Happy Weekend Ticket), which is only valid on all days of the week 9 am. At least two people need to travel on it.
